ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE

February 9, 2017

I woke up on a Friday morning and like I always do on a typical Friday morning, I got ready and went to work. Around 10:00am, I get a call from my hubby saying that he was asked to do a presentation in London that Monday and asked me if I wanted to tag along. What is a girl to say other than: "Hell yeah I wanna go to England, when are we leaving?" and hubby responds: "Tonight!". Then our journey began. It was right after week of Graduate finals, so this trip could not have come at a better time. We packed our bags and so we left to England that night.

We arrived the next morning. It was cloudy and rainy, just a typical English day. Could not have been more perfect! I wanted to experience what the locals experience. I would have never imagine that we would stay in the country side. We stayed at a little place called "The Malt House", about 20 miles from Manchester. The owner was so amazingly nice. I felt right at home.

I went our for a walk in the town of Rishworth and snapped these pictures. I couldn't believe how magical it really was. It was one of the best experiences ever. I know I say this a lot, but I felt like I was inside of a movie. Everywhere I looked was so rustic and rural. It was the perfect spot in the English Country Side.

The "Malt House" in Rishworth is such a cute little Hotel. The owner made us feel right at home. There is a restaurant on the first floor and the food is divine!

This was my favorite breakfast at the Malt House. Omelette with spinach, mushrooms, cheese and these delicious greens (which I don't know what they call it).

Plus, Christmas was around the corner, so England looked extra magical. Can you notice how ecstatic I was?

I couldn't believe how many vegetarian options I found everywhere I went! I was in heaven. Even though this salad was at The Malt House, and it was one of the best salads I have ever tried.

The beer was smooth, flatter than usual and with a hint of citrus. Best beer I've tried so far!

The English Country Side was everything and more than I ever expected it to me. My mind kept lingering through landscape descriptions I've read in books. The smell was humid, pure, clean and it was silent. It was peaceful and majestic.

This Mushroom Risotto was magnificent!

My first meal in England. I can still smell and taste this dish. It was fried cheese with a wine sauce. It was so different from anything I have ever tried.

It was stressful to pack and travel half way around the world in less than 6 hours, but it was so worth. As soon as we got to the country side I knew it has been worth it. I totally recommend checking out this little town of Rishworth and ABSOLUTELY staying at The Malt House. You will receive superb and upscale service. The food, the accommodations, the fireplace on the restaurant, the music, the upscale pub vibe was pure magic...

Last minute trips are always so fun. It was the most amazing surprise ever!

Thank you for reading,

Reena
